Dr Nuno Bimbo

Profile

Nuno Bimbo is an Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering at the University of Southampton and a member of the Energy and Electrochemistry research group.

He’s also a point of contact for the virtual control room at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, an immersive simulated training environment that recreates the dynamic working environment of a chemical engineering control room. 

He has an integrated master’s in Chemical Engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal (2009) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bath, UK (2013).

From 2013 to 2015 he was a postdoctoral research associate/officer in EPSRC-funded research projects on hydrogen storage and safety. In 2015 he was appointed to a Lectureship at Lancaster University and in 2020 he moved to Southampton, where he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2022.

Nuno is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with the IChemE, a full member of the Portuguese Ordem dos Engenheiros and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
