Leveraging the potential of chemistry data
A new University of Southampton spin-out company, Data Revival, is set to help organisations unlock the value of their chemistry research data.
Developed by researchers in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Data Revival’s innovative platform enables organisations to connect their entire history of chemical knowledge, from digital reports to handwritten lab notebooks, with modern digital tools.

By creating smart, relational links between datasets, it empowers researchers to run deep semantic searches, even across millions of records, uncovering insights that once seemed impossible.
The enterprise is hitting the ground running, having already secured contracts with global leaders in the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors, launched its web platform to transform unstructured R&D documents into usable digital assets, and processed over 250,000 pages of complex chemistry-related R&D documents to prove the technology at scale. It has also supported UK researchers by offering the platform free for all UK-based academics.
